A message from Founder, Jack Pattinson

” I’m incredibly lucky. I love what I do. It’s a joy to support and partner with schools, staff and young people across the country.

My passion for inclusive education stems from my own challenging experiences in school. I was very much the ‘square peg’. So, after leaving school I worked in and around education for several years before considering how I could best support purposeful change to benefit the children who technically belong in school but don’t feel like they truly belong. “

Our Values

Connection

We believe in the power of connection.

Whether we're forging new links, collaborating with experts or partnering with organisations committed to deliberate inclusion - Connection makes the world go round.

Curiosity

A commitment to moving forward.

When it comes to finding solutions, curiosity is how we move forward. We want to be curious about the behaviour we see, the policies we operate under and the experiences we offer.

Kindness

Kindness, even when it's difficult.

Kindness is where we start with communication and connection. However, kindness isn't always easy. Operating in the best interests of children and young people is our non-negotiable.

Where did it all start?

Codevelo was born in 2018, driven by a deep frustration with the status quo—a desire to challenge the conventional ways of delivering education experiences across the UK.

At our core, we believe that curiosity and great ideas should not be dismissed simply because they don’t align with “the way things have always been done.” In a world brimming with progressive ideas, it’s disheartening to see so much potential wasted due to fear of change. The analogy “if they don’t learn the way we teach, then teach the way they learn” is not new – so why can’t we broaden out that thinking to more than just the digestion of academic content?

Our journey is guided by Founder, Jack Pattinson. Driven by personal and professional experiences within education, our mission is to offer training and support to schools to ensure that every young person gets to belong.

We’re a people organisation first and foremost, placing the best interests of each child and young person at the heart of every session we deliver, plan we support and policy we challenge.

Meet - Founder, Jack Pattinson

“It all began at school really. Like a lot of kids, I was desperate to please and for people to like me. That meant I spent a lot of time learning how to be a child that people wanted and not being myself. As I progressed through school, I was bullied mercilessly. I was too tall, too gay, too loud, too inquisitive and always, too much. I learnt that in the schools I attended, I wasn’t enough, and I certainly didn’t belong.

For some wild reason, I felt compelled to educate professionally. I was terrified by the idea that my experience of school was how everyone experienced school. While this isn’t the case for the most part, it’s also not unheard of – in fact, children feeling isolated and excluded in schools seems to be becoming more commonplace!

After developing a curious love for behavioural science at university I started working in education in a variety of capacities, each role very different from the last. I invigilated exams, supported in classrooms, offered governance and oversight, managed teams and even developed a new provision of my own. In all of my roles, a big focus for me was kindness, connection and this idea of meaningful belonging.

Eventually, I created Codevelo. I wanted to create a toolbox for education provisions to support them on their journeys to inclusion. My own experiences at school mean that I am passionate about changing the course for as many young people as I can. I shifted by work to offering training, support and partnership to schools who were taking their steps towards creative inclusive, kind and curious environments. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and work with some incredible practitioners and wonderful children and young people, continuing to teach me what it means to prepare children for the next steps in their lives.

Connection and belonging is absolutely possible – it’s doable, it’s being done! We’ve just got to be willing to change our thinking sometimes, we’ve got to be willing to reflect and share and work together to move forward – and that’s where Codevelo steps in.”
